Terms of Use
1. Acceptance of terms
By accessing or using the Experience History website at experiencehistory.co.uk (the "Site"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, please do not use the Site.
Experience History is operated by Heritage Social. References to "we", "us", or "our" throughout these terms refer to Heritage Social.
2. About the service
Experience History is an information platform designed to help people across the UK discover museums, galleries, historic sites, heritage events, and local history communities. The Site provides:
- An interactive map of UK museums and heritage sites.
- A directory of local history societies and community groups.
- Listings for heritage events, festivals, and open days.
- Editorial content about the UK heritage sector.
- Information about the Experience History Awards.
The Site is provided for general information purposes only. Nothing on Experience History constitutes professional, legal, financial, or advisory guidance of any kind. We make no representations that the Site is appropriate for use in locations outside the United Kingdom.
3. Accuracy of information
We make reasonable efforts to ensure that information on the Site — including museum listings, opening times, admission prices, and event details — is accurate and up to date. However, we cannot guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or currency of any information provided.
Museum listings on Experience History are contributed by institutions themselves or compiled from publicly available sources. We recommend always checking directly with a venue before visiting, as opening hours, admission prices, and other details may change without notice.
If you notice an inaccuracy, please let us know at hello@experiencehistory.co.uk and we will investigate promptly.
4. Intellectual property
All content on Experience History — including text, design, graphics, illustrations, and code — is the property of Heritage Social or its licensors and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.
You may view and print content from the Site for your personal, non-commercial use only. You may not reproduce, distribute, republish, or transmit any part of the Site's content without our prior written permission, except where permitted by law.
Museum names, logos, and images associated with specific institutions remain the property of those institutions. Their inclusion on Experience History does not imply any affiliation with or endorsement by Heritage Social.
5. Prohibited conduct
When using Experience History, you agree not to:
- Submit false, misleading, or inaccurate information in any form or listing.
- Use the Site in any way that is unlawful, harmful, or disruptive.
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Site or its underlying systems.
- Use automated tools to scrape, crawl, or extract data from the Site without our written permission.
- Impersonate any person, institution, or organisation.
- Post or transmit any content that is defamatory, offensive, or infringes the rights of any third party.
We reserve the right to remove any content and suspend or terminate access for any user who breaches these terms.
6. Third-party links
The Site contains links to external websites, including museum and venue websites, event organisers, and other heritage resources. These links are provided for your convenience. We have no control over the content or practices of third-party sites and accept no responsibility for them. Linking to an external site does not imply our endorsement of that site or its content.
7. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Heritage Social excludes all liability for any loss or damage — direct, indirect, or consequential — arising from your use of, or inability to use, Experience History or its content. This includes, but is not limited to, losses arising from reliance on inaccurate listing information or decisions made based on content published on the Site.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.
8. Governing law
These Terms of Use are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from or relating to these terms or your use of the Site shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms of Use from time to time. When we do, we will update the "last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms. We recommend reviewing this page periodically.
